Matt Jones is a devoted father and a hardworking parent with long work hours. Like many parents, he often found himself leaving home when his daughter still wanted one more story, one more hug, or one more moment together. Over time, those goodbyes began to carry emotional weight not just for his daughter, but for Matt himself.
He came to Digital Scribblers with a heartfelt idea: a children’s book inspired by his daughter and the emotional reality of having to be away sometimes for work. What he didn’t have was a manuscript, publishing knowledge, or a clear path forward. This was his first book, and the publishing process felt overwhelming.
Matt’s biggest obstacle was not a lack of ideas, but it was knowing where to start.
He had never written or published a book before. The world of self-publishing felt technical and overwhelming: How do you write a story that speaks to a four-year-old? Who handles the illustrations? What even is an ISBN? Every step of the children’s book publishing process was unfamiliar territory.
He needed more than a service. He needed a team that understood both the process and the purpose behind it.
From the start, our team at Digital Scribblers approached Matt’s project with empathy and structure.
We helped him shape his idea into a gentle, reassuring children’s story designed for young readers,
We turned Matt’s heartfelt idea into a gentle, child-friendly story that speaks directly to kids who miss their parents
We refined every line to keep the language simple, emotionally resonant, and perfectly pitched for early readers.
We created custom book illustrations that show familiar moments like bedtime and quiet reflection to help children feel seen and understood.
We designed a cozy, inviting cover that reflects the book’s emotional tone and appeals to both parents and children.
We formatted the book professionally so it looks polished and ready for print and digital platforms.
We built Matt a clean, professional author website where he can share his book, his story, and connect with other parents and readers.
Sometimes I Have to Work was officially published on November 10, 2025, as a beautifully illustrated children’s book that reflects Matt’s love for his daughter and offers reassurance to families facing similar situations.
More than a published title, the book became:

“Digital Scribblers has been a great experience! Specifically Ruby Martin. This is my first book publishing experience and Ruby has been so unbelievably helpful and positive through the entire process. I would highly recommend Digital Scribblers to anyone looking for help with any service they offer. Do yourself a favor and ask for Ruby Martin, you will not be disappointed!”
